A post-apocalyptic world, finding the cure, and sneaking through snarky clickers – The Last of Us Season 2 officially drops this Sunday. HBO‘s adaptation of the epic hit of the video game had us just wondering the fate of Ellie and Joel. But, does the show take the actual plot to the next level?

The Last of US is an epic hit video game developed by Naughty Dog for the Sony PlayStation gaming console. And, with the stellar season 1 that aired in 2023, each episode averaged over 32 million views.

The Last of Us Season 2: The Plot

Let’s back up a bit, shall we? Season 1 of The Last of Us was set in a post-apocalyptic world where a pandemic turned most humans into zombies. The story revolves around Joel and Ellie, as they travel to what seems the remains of the US to find a cure. Ellie, who is immune to the outbreak, is transported by Joel across the country.

According to the official logline releases, The Last of Us Season 2 would follow a 5-year jump, where Joel and Ellie are drawn into conflict in a world that is even more dangerous.

Rotten Tomatoes’ Stance On The Last of Us Season 2

The Last of Us Season 2 review by Rotten Tomatoes is supposed to be favorably high. Season 1 received a 93% “Fresh” rating, which is based on 44 reviews.

Apart from the overall plot, there might also be new faces for season 2. We will be seeing Gabriel Luna as Tommy and Rutina Wesley as Maria, Tommy’s wife. Plus, the new casting also includes Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Spencer Lord as Owen, Young Mazino as Jesse, Isabel Merced as Dina, and Jeffrey Wright as Issac.

According to Bella Ramsey, who played Ellie in the blockbuster hit of this game adaptation, the plot of season 2 got her all emotional.
